| What a perfect name my wife, Carol, has given this image.
I think it is most appropriate. On Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in the town
of Dennis, there is an area known as Bass Hole. It is renowned as a
spectacular place to watch the setting sun. A long boardwalk leads out
to a viewing area, a small deck with benches. The plan for my trip to
Bass Hole was to capture the sun as it approached the horizon. Much to
my disappointment it clouded up and my mental vision never materialized.
As I walked back to the beach and turned around, I could not believe the
color I was witnessing. The sun had gone below the horizon, but was
still illuminating the clouds. At the same moment I spotted a sailboat
sitting idly in the water. After I took a wide-angle photograph, I
zoomed in on the sailboat. I left with two beautiful images instead of
the one I was intent on getting in the first place. Nature was kind to
me that day. |
