Morning Glory
"Morning Glory"

It's called a sunburst. Some photographers use a special filter to produce this effect. However, I prefer the purist's method - a technical approach-to accomplish this star-like phenomenon. I waited for over an hour for the rising sun to be partially blocked by the bell in the tower. This is the Missionary Baptist Church in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It was formed in 1839. During the Civil War the church ceased to meet, but reopened after the war. The present building dates from 1894 when there were about forty members.
