| Traveling south just beyond the Virginia, North Carolina
border there is about a two-mile section of the Blue Ridge Parkway where
the trees are densely covered with lichens. When it is misty or foggy,
the color of the lichens becomes more saturated. This effect, combined
with the old fence, bare branches and enveloping fog, evokes a mystical
feeling. |
