| Located along Glade Creek in Babcock State Park in
southern West Virginia, this grist mill is a popular photographic spot.
This is a "new" mill built in 1976. It was built as a
recreation of one which once ground grain on Glade Creek. It was known
as Cooper's Mill. The present mill has been created by combining parts
and pieces from several old mills which once dotted the state. I arrived
at the mill before dawn and took some shots before the sun came over the
mountain . I waited for the sun to rise higher and the sunlight to move
down the hill behind the grist mill. I used a wide angle lens so I could
include the falls and reflected color in the pool. No, I did not place
the red leaves on the rock. They were already there waiting to add a
dash of color to the foreground. |
